HTC aduce in Romania smartphone-ul S740


Compania taiwaneza High Tech Computer (HTC), cel mai mare producator de PDA-uri si smartphone-uri bazate pe sistemul de operare Windows Mobile, va lansa in Romania terminalul S740 in a doua jumatate a lunii septembrie. Telefonul dispune atat de o tastatura clasica de 12 taste, cat si de una glisanta complet QWERTY si va avea un pret recomandat de 415 euro. Terminalul este compatibil cu retele 3G/HSDPA, ce asigura o viteza teoretica de descarcare a datelor de pana la 7,2 Mbps. Telefonul se mai poate conecta la internet prin Wi-Fi. Ecranul aparatului are diagonala de 2,4 inchi (6,09 centimetri). S740 dispune de o camera foto digitala cu rezolutia de 3,2 megapixeli si functie de inregistrare video. Memoria interna de 256 MB poate fi extinsa prin intermediul cardurilor microSD. Telefonul are si un modul de navigatie prin satelit (GPS) incorporat. Telefonul are o grosime de 16,3 milimetri si cantareste 140 de grame. S740 urmareste designul predecesorului sau HTC Touch Diamond, avand aceelasi tip de carcasa neagra. Diamond, considerat de catre analisti un concurent direct pentru Apple iPhone, se bazeaza pe o interfata aproape complet controlata cu ajutorul degetelor si dispune de doar cateva butoane pentru functiile uzuale.

Telefoane mobile cu GPS pentru gasirea copiilor disparuti

Conform datelor FBI in fiecare zi 2000 de copii sunt dati disparuti. Companiile de telefonie mobila spera ca prin folosirea telefoanelor cu sistem GPS sa ajute la scaderea acestui numar, prin localizarea copiilor disparuti.

A cell phone’s GPS can be used to find a child who is lost, or monitor where a child goes when away from home. Companies specializing in children’s phones, including Kajeet, Wherify Wheriphone, and Disney all offer this service.

Several of the large carriers also offer child location, as well as other services designed to keep an eye on your kids. In addition to GPS locating, Sprint Family Locator offers Family Watchdog Mobile in conjunction with the Family Watchdog Web Site, texting parents when a sex offender moves into the neighborhood.

Verizon Wireless’ Chaperone 2.0 allows parents to monitor their children’s whereabouts; the service can also send text messages to parents if children leave the boundaries of a prescribed safe zone.

These GPS systems can also be used for elderly parents, those suffering from Alzheimer’s, for example.

There are a few problems using GPS as child finders. When phones are turned off the GPS can’t be read, and when they are in obstructed areas like basements or windowless rooms, their signal must be triangulated from cell phone towers, making the reading much less accurate.

Cell phones are not recommended for younger children; instead, small GPS devices which can be easily and firmly attached to the child should be used.

Or they can be in the clothes themselves. British clothing manufacturer Bladerunner – who also released the first Kevlar school uniform – has come out with a GPS jacket for children, which can send updates of your child’s location via email or text messaging

For parents concerned about their teenage drivers, companies such as Track My Kids sell vehicle tracking systems (VTS). The system (9 + monthly service charge) monitors a car’s location and its speed. Parents can receive text messages or emails when their teen drivers break the speed limit.

GPS child tracking is also being deployed by government agencies. A pilot program in Texas has recently begun using GPS to deter truancy.”

This year has been great for European and American travelers with mobile phones, with more airlines testing systems for boarding passes downloaded onto their browser-enabled handsets. Delta joined Continental in allowing domestic travelers to check-in and display their boarding pass on cell phone screens as a two-dimensional barcode. This furthers the trend begun by Air France, KLM and Air Canada, who began testing last year for short- and medium-haul flights. Air France’s system began as a simple check-in process, with an option for the user to receive a text message reminder prior to the flight date, and a confirmation afterwards.

In countries like Japan, where cell phones are used for all sorts of daily activities, this isn’t new at all. Since 2006, airlines such as ANA have enabled cell phones to manage booking, seat selection, and more. In an MSNBC article, Chris McGinnis, editor of Expedia Travel Trendwatch, says “…only a very small percentage of [US] airline passengers would ever really use their phones for this type of transaction.” Such a blanket statement sounds incredible as proliferation for mobile games and iPhone apps continues to pick up momentum.

CTIA-Wireless Association shows cell phone penetration levels at 82 percent as of the end of last year. With such a high level of saturation, the development of a cellular-based check-in system was a natural next step. Busy fliers like it because they can avoid printouts altogether. The Transportation Security Administration likes it because the 2D cell phone barcode is harder to counterfeit than the standard barcode.

The new system has its limitations and drawbacks. The TSA banned boarding without ID, so only so much waiting time in the security process has been cut out. If a cell phone does not have browser capability or the cell carrier plan has no data-download, the cell phone cannot access the site or service. As for drawbacks, the paperless check-in means that if you need proof of your flight to qualify for frequent flier miles, than you’re out of luck.

Cu doua zile inainte de lansare, Orange anunta preturile pentru iPhone 3G


Operatorul de telefonie mobila Orange, care aduce oficial pe piata romaneasca noua versiune a iPhone 3G, a anuntat astazi, cu o zi inainte de lansarea oficiala, pretul de achizitie pentru faimosul telefon mobil de la Apple.

Astfel, clientii noi care doresc sa isi cumpere un iPhone pot alege intre cele doua abonamente dedicate in valoare de 39 euro, respectiv 59 euro pe luna, care includ minute nationale, mesaje scrise, pachete cu trafic de date si tarife speciale pentru apelurile internationale.

Telefonul costa intre 179 si 489 euro, in functie de modelul ales, de tipul de abonament utilizat si de perioada contractuala a abonamentului.

Smartphone-ul de la Google, asteptat in SUA inainte de Craciun


Telefonul mobil dezvoltat pe baza platformei Android a Google este asteptat sa intre pe piata din SUA inainte de Craciun, cel mai probabil in luna octombrie, conform unor surse apropiate companiei, citate de The New York Times
Terminalul va fi comercializat de operatorul T-Mobile si va fi produs de HTC, unul dintre cei mai mari producatori de telefoane mobile din lume.

Smartphone-ul este asteptat sa egaleze performantele iPhone-ului de la Apple si ale altor modele care folosesc software de la Palm, Research in Motion, Microsoft si Nokia. Telefonul va avea un ecran sensibil la atingere, ca si iPhone.

Google va oferi gratuit sistemul de operare Android.

Google vrea sa aplice platforma Android pe telefoane mobile deoarece considera ca Web-ul mobil este vital pentru dezvoltarea pe termen lung a afacerii sale de publicitate digitala.

"Intr-un final o sa putem face mai multi bani pe telefoane mobile decat facem acum cu desktop-urile", a afirmat presedintele executiv al Google, Eric E. Schmidt,citat de The New York Times.

Romania: Laptop-urile au crescut de 3 ori mai repede decat desktop-urile in T2

Vanzarile de laptop-uri au crescut in Romania de aproape 3 ori mai repede decat vanzarile de desktop-uri in al doilea trimestru, fata de aceeasi perioada a anului trecut. Astfel, comercializarile de computere portabile au crescut cu 49% ca numar de unitati vandute, in timp ce vanzarile de desktop-uri au crescut cu doar 18,7%.
Intreaga piata de PC-uri din Romania a crescut in trimestrul doi cu 29,3% ca numar de unitati vandute si cu 23,3% ca valoare fata de aceeasi perioada a lui 2007. Desktop-urile au ocupat 59,8% din piata, in timp ce laptop-urile au detinut in trimestrul doi 37,9%, conform unui raport IDC.

Ca valoare a vanzarilor, desktop-urile au detinut 47% din piata, notebook-urile 42,9%, in timp ce serverele au acoperit 10,1% din piata de PC-uri autohtone in trimestrul doi.

In primul trimestru, desktop-urile au avut o pondere de 73%, ca numar de unitati, iar valoarea a reprezentat 59,1% din totalul pietei

Ca numar de unitati vandute, pe primul loc in trimestrul doi s-a clasat Dell, cu o cota de 12,6% din piata de PC-uri autohtone, urmat de HP, cu 12% din piata si de K-Tech cu 8,9%. Ca valoare, cel mai bun vendor in trimestrul doi s-a clasat HP, cu o cota de 16,9%, urmat de Dell, 15,3% si de Toshiba, cu 9,3%.

Ca valoare, Intel domina categoric segmentul de procesoare, cu o cota de 75,5% din piata in trimestrul doi, urmat de AMD, cu o cota de 23,9%.

Flamingo: JO 2008 si apropierea toamnei vor creste vanzarile de televizoare

Retailerul Flamingo International estimeaza ca va comercializa in august cu 25-35% mai multe televizoare LCD si plasme fata de iulie, evolutia fiind sustinuta de Jocurile Olimpice, precum si de specificul lunii august, ultima de vara.
In general, in fiecare an luna august aduce o revenire a vanzarilor comparativ cu luna iulie, cand nivelul acestora este mai scazut.

Retailerul IT&C, electronice si electrocasnice estimeaza ca in prezent, gradul de penetrare al televizoarelor LCD in mediul urban se ridica in luna august la 20-25%, dublu fata de aceeasi perioada a anului trecut.

Potrivit reprezentantilor Flamingo, Jocurile Olimpice 2008, derulate in perioada 8-24 august, sunt transmise pentru prima data in format Full HD, rezolutie care aduce cu sine si o crestere a vanzarilor de LCD-uri cu diagonala mare, cuprinsa intre 102 si 250 cm.

"Asa cum am estimat la inceputul anului 2008, segmentul de LCD-uri si plasme reprezinta vedeta pietei de electronice anul acesta, datorita tendintei generale de inlocuire a televizoarelor cu tub catodic si achizitia unora cu tub plat, cat si organizarii unor evenimente majore precum Campionatul European de Fotbal si Jocurile Olimpice de la Beijing", a declarat Jiri Rizek, CEO Flamingo International.

"Chiar daca Jocurile Olimpice de vara vor genera o crestere a vanzarilor de LCD-uri si plasme usor mai mica fata de perioada premergatoare Campionatului European de Fotbal, estimam ca acestea vor continua sa fie printre cele mai solicitate produse si in luna august. Astfel, valoarea medie investita de catre clientii nostri in aceasta categorie de produse se ridica la aproximativ 2.000 de lei, cele mai solicitate modele fiind cele cu diagonala de 32", a mai spus Rizek.

In primul semestru al acestui an, Flamingo International a inregistrat, pe segmentul de LCD-uri si plasme, vanzari triple fata de aceeasi perioada a anului trecut. Valorile urmeaza sa se mentina si in a doua jumatate a anului, compania inregistrand o cota de piata de 15% pe acest segment.

Retailerul estimeaza ca pana la sfarsitul anului 2008, piata de display LCD si plasma va totaliza aproximativ 500.000 de unitati.

Despre stocarea online

In 2004, Google a schimbat felul in care percepeam serviciile de e-mail gratuite alocand fiecarui utilizator un spatiu de 1GB. Microsoft oferea un spatiu de stocare de numai 2MB chiar la 3 luni dupa lansarea Gmail. Microsoft percepea utilizatorilor o taxa de 59,95 USD pe an pentru un spatiu de stocare de 100 MB. Yahoo, a reactionat si a marit spatiul de stocare de la 4MB la 100 MB in timp ce utilizatorii care plateau servicul urmau sa beneficieze de un spatiu de 2GB. Compania avea sa modifice si preturile percepute pentru serviciu, oferind un tarif unic de 19,99 USD pe an fata de ofertele anterioare de 29,99 USD pe an pentru 25 MB, 39,99 USD pentru 50 MB si 59,99 USD pentru 100 MB.
Acum mai bine de un an, Microsoft a lansat Windows SkyDrive, un serviciu de stocare online din categoria 2.0. Compania oferea un spatiu de stocare de 500 MB ce puteau fi utilizati prin uploadarea de fisiere de maxim 50 MB. Anul trecut, in octombrie, spatiul a crescut la 1GB pentru ca in februarie 2008 s ajunga la 5GB. In octombrie, servicul era disponibil in 38 de tari, iar in prezent, Sky Drive este tradus in 62 de limbi, printre care si limba romana. Daca doriti sa uploadati mai multe fisiere prin drag & drop, trebuie sa utilizati numai Internet Explorer. Pentru a putea utiliza acest serviciu trebuie sa fiti abonati MSN, Hotmail sau Live. De asemenea, nu puteti uploada mai mult de 5 fisiere intr-o sesiune. Nu exista in cadrul meniului nici un camp care sa anunte utilizatorul pentru cat timp se pot stoca fisierele acolo. Google nu a lansat inca un serviciu dedicat stocarii online, desi aceasta optiune a fost demarata prin intermediul Gmail. Spatiul alocat de Gmail creste constant, prin intermediul unui user si al unei parole, utilizatorul avand acces la mai multe servicii online, printre care si Google Documents, unde se pot crea fisiere tip text sau tabel asemanatoare cu cele din suita Microsoft Office. Prin contul Gmail utiliztorul poate uploada fotografii, documente sau fisiere video, dar nu exista un singur "loc" specializat in managementul documentelor online. Exista, totusi, optiunea, ca, pe statia locala, sa instaleze un program numit Gmail Drive care functioneaza ca o partitie a hardului local. Partitia virtuala Gmail Drive poate fi vizualizata in sistemul de operare Windows din My Computer. Utiliztorul poate trage catre Gmail Drive fisiere de orice tip de pe partitiile locale ale hardului. Managementul fisierelor stocate online se poate face in doua moduri: local, prin vizualizarea ca o partitie normala, sau online, utilizatorul primind un e-mail de fiecare data cand este copiat un fisier in partitia virtuala.
In Romania, exista cateva servicii ca transfer.ro sau filebox.ro unde exista singura optiune de a incarca fisiere pe un server. Prin transfer.ro, utilizatorii pot stoca pana la 1GB fara a fi limitata dimensiunea fisierelor, fiind permise orice fel de fisiere. Transfer.ro este utilizat in special pentru fotografii si fisierele sunt stocate pe o perioada de 10 zile fara a fi nevoie sa-ti creezi un cont. Serverul fiind in Romania, viteza de download este superioara serverelor gazduite in SUA, de exemplu. Filebox.ro este deocamdata in versiunea beta, permitand un spatiu de stocare de pana la 3 GB pe baza deschiderii unui cont de client. Fara cont, fisierele de pana la 50 MB sunt stocate pana la 30 de zile, ier cele mai mari pe perioade mai scurte.
Potrivit trafic.ro, filebox.ro este pe locul 1 in topul preferintelor utilizatorilor de servicii web, cu peste 420.000 vizitatori unici si 2,6 milioane afisari.
